What is life?

John Lennon once said that ” life is what happens while we are making other plans” , as if there were no time limit, when in reality time is the finest thing there is and will always come to an end.

Woman with her son looking at life

We wake up every day as if we had eternity to understand what it is to fulfill ourselves and take a step beyond our goals. We forget that the transience of the sand when passing to the other side of the clock is our option to go to the other side and continue climbing the mountain. We also forget that, for the moment, it is the only life that we have the certainty of being able to share.

You can stop to think that perhaps something is escaping you and you can reflect on what are the values that you have not yet understood, if you care so much about doing what society understands as the greatest or what is important to you. It is not that it is incompatible, it is that the main thing is what you feel.

We live in a world that does not allow us to realize that, day after day, the sun goes down very early. We are so busy dreaming and programming the future that we spend our present time packing up those dreams we plan to fulfill one day and sending them to a destination we may never be in.

The inexorable passage of time

Hand with a disappearing clock marking the passage of time

We postpone our life to a better time in which we have more hours in the day or we have managed to meet our goals. And, with this, we forget that our watch does not know the world beyond the 24 hours that it knows how to mark and that the option of fighting with our dreams is what it gives us today.

We have forgotten that living is understanding that time passes bluntly and that it gives us the option of appreciating the little things that truly loving ourselves offers us. Precisely living consists of this, in knowing how to recognize and appreciate the paths that give us clues to understand that our better half is within us and that it does not make much sense to look outside for the most important thing that life offers us.

So, as you prepare to disrupt your world so that all of this happens, don’t forget to keep in mind that something Benjamin Franklin said:
