And Since He Didn’t Know It Was Impossible, He Did It

And since he didn't know it was impossible, he did

People who don’t fight to achieve their dreams often tell others that they won’t fulfill theirs either. You don’t have to listen to them, trying, the impossible can sometimes be achieved. Read this story carefully.

Once upon a time, there were two children skating on a frozen pond. It was a cloudy and cold afternoon, but the children played without concern. Suddenly, the ice broke and one of the children fell into the water, being trapped. The other boy, seeing that his friend was drowning under the ice, took a stone and began to beat with all his might until he managed to break the icy cloak, grabbed his friend and saved him.

When the firefighters arrived and saw what had happened, they wondered how he did it, because the ice was so thick.

– ” It is impossible that he could have broken it with that stone and his small hands”, they affirmed.

At that moment an old man appeared and said:

– “I know how he did it.”

– “How?”

– ” There was no one around him to tell him he couldn’t do it. “

When they tell us that we can’t

How many of you stopped part of the way because someone told you not to continue, that you would never reach your goal? Probably all more than once and before very different questions.

stairway to dreams

I have known tremendous cases of conviction. Teachers, fathers and mothers, brothers, friends …, determined to make someone completely useless. It sounds harsh, I know, but I have seen the compassionate look too many times in the face of an effort that is believed in vain.

And it is true, it has happened to all of us, there are countless things that we have never done throughout our existence because we have been told that we would not achieve it and we have believed it. The number of options that life has given us is enormous and that we have not even tried to take advantage of because we already “knew” in advance that we were not going to reach our goal.

There are many ways to discourage, each one more painful. I have heard hundreds of times: ” you are not going to get it “, ” do not waste your time “, ” you are wasting your life ” and endless phrases like that.

But most of the time it is something more subtle, I have been able to appreciate looks of compassion, scorn and mockery, despair and incomprehension in the face of the enormous effort that small and great heroes made to achieve something.

Almost nothing is impossible

There are people who think that they will not be able to learn a language, get fit, overcome their shyness, win a trophy or that it will be impossible for them to learn to drive. We have seen it countless times… And we have also observed thousands of times how the most devastating and fatal premonitions are those that come from the family or the school. Why?

Because it is from these two great pillars that we develop and unleash our ability to excel. That is to say, when we are small, what others tell us is not only a brake or a stimulation, but also shapes our identity and the image we have of ourselves.

In addition, assuming that we reproduce the behavior patterns that we learn from the people around us, it is even likely that we have believed that someone would not achieve something. At the end of the day, by statistics, it is likely that we sin from being killers of dreams (even knowing that it is harmful and we try to avoid it).

It really can be done and if it can’t be done one way, it will be done another. As Edison said, “Those who say it is impossible should not disturb or interrupt those of us who are trying.”

Inner strength

Each one to apply today’s story and break his ice to save himself from certain death. We have within us the strength to fall a thousand times and get up a thousand and one, to run out of tears and not forget to smile. We have the courage to face pain and to rebuild the pieces that others have broken.

Those of us who pursue an objective know that setting goals is the first, turning a deaf ear to the killers of dreams the second, and reaching a point of no return the third, that is, the moment in which we only have the option of achieving it. .

We can, if we want, settle our pending accounts because, I tell you in the words of Seneca, “it is not because things are difficult that we do not dare. It’s because we don’t dare that things are difficult ” . So if you want to get where most don’t, you need to do something that most don’t: believe it!
