Geniuses Suffering From Neurosis

Geniuses suffering from neurosis

There are several well-known celebrities who suffered from neurosis. We do not know very well if it is neurosis that causes us to end up calling those who achieve unimaginable things geniuses. Or if it is the very genius that these people are unable to deal with that end up suffering from neurosis. Today we will discover some of these geniuses.

Yves saint laurent

In his farewell to fashion, Yves Saint Laurent gave an emotional and sincere speech in which he explained how fashion had been his escape from all the stories that continually crossed his mind. He declared to have been part of that cursed lineage of neurotics, people who have themselves as their main enemy.

He declared, in a perhaps exaggerated but also poetic way, that  since he was born he did so “with nervous depression”; and that was reflected throughout his life. Fortunately, that part was translated into their designs, where the paradigm of glamor is found combined with functionality.

 Vincent Vangh Gogh

Another famous painter constantly approached by his mind, manifesting itself more than his own words, was Vincent Vangh Gogh. To the famous episode of cutting an ear is added a long passage through mental sanatoriums where he tried to seek calm.

Unfortunately he never found her, but his art grew to the extent of his mental hells, and that is why today his paintings still awaken passion, mystery and also compassion for this man who came to self-portray but never knew or understood his inner world. .

Virginia Woolf

Virginia Woolf

Another famous writer on his mind was the acclaimed Virginia Woolf. The author of “Mrs. Dalloway” was always tormented by her existential doubts and with several bipolar episodes, she used writing as a means to project her continuous crises, getting wonderful stories on paper, although in her mind they were always uncomfortable.

Unfortunately he committed suicide when he could no longer handle the incessant story in his mind. Nicole Kidman played her masterfully in the movie “The Hours.”

Robin williams

This death affected us all, because this actor was always someone endearing but he was always fighting with the ghosts in his mind.

His films were always emotional and funny, he gave off that fragility in his roles but also his chameleonic ability to change registers.

The hardest role of his life was trying to heal to enjoy his personal life … but ultimately he did not win the battle.

Although he is a legend of the cinema for many, he himself was not able to overcome these relapses in his state of mind. But once again, your work will still be alive.

Michael jackson

He was the king of pop, entertainment, charisma, and limitless creation. From a very young age, he stood out for his artistic abilities and his ability to create, but a very harsh education on the part of his father and a series of physical complexes in his adolescence traced in him an insecure and neurotic character.

He continually sought to cover his image with the most spectacular staging, his skin problems with vitiligo disease caused him even more discomfort.

Mickael Jakson

The desire to recover his lost childhood and his struggle with his appearance caused a series of addictions that led him to death precisely because of those drugs he took to keep all those ghosts from his mind.

Once again, neurosis and art come together to create a legend. Therefore, it is worth asking:   Does neurosis always accompany genius? Or perhaps it is a consequence of it?
